ABOUT ABOUT

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

Out of an abundance of caution, we are cancelling this Saturday's Plant. Eat. Repeat. garden workshop due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Atlanta.

While we are disappointed not to see you this weekend, we are doing so in loving solidarity for our greater community. We strongly believe in the power of growing food as a tool for health, wellbeing and resilience in the face of a crisis, and we vow to continue our workshops as soon as possible. We are also exploring ways to share our knowledge and resources online so you can grow where it is safe to do so.

Below is a link to the CDC recommendations for halting the spread of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19. We encourage you to follow these guidelines and stay safe. We will see you back at the garden in no time.

With love,
Food Well Alliance and Atlanta Botanical Garden

Calling all new and experienced gardeners!

Want a stronger connection to your food and where it comes from? Want a chance to network with neighbors and others in your community interested in edible gardening? Food Well Alliance and Atlanta Botanical Garden are excited to announce that our seasonal series returns this Spring.

Gardening workshops will be hosted by local community gardens across metro Atlanta and will feature lights refreshments, opportunities to network, and instruction on the following topics:

Horticulture 101 & Crop Planning

We’ll review a planting calendar for the year, the basic tools you’ll need, learn how to prep a bed, plant a seed tray, and collect a soil sample. We’ll also talk about watering, the basics of intercropping and plants that work well together.

Seeds, Starts and Transplants

We’ll learn all about seed trays, how to break up roots for planting, how to plant seeds in beds, pots, and trays, understanding seed spacing, where to get seeds, and what to look for in healthy transplants/starts.

Soil, Nutrients and Fertility

Learn how to understand a soil test, the nutrient balance needed in your soil, and how to apply soil and organic fertilizers.

Whether you’re a novice or a gardening pro, come prepared to learn from experts who will provide hands-on teaching and demonstrations. Hope to see you there!
